Party Dilemma
So Yoni's birthday is in a few short weeks, and I have been going back and forth on party plans for him. I have a really hard time with the excessiveness of so many kids parties and the ridiculous amounts of gifts that are given these days, and don't want to be a part of that. The problem is where to draw the line, without offending anyone. At the moment, I am thinking about having family and Yoni's closest friends and their parents, one family, over for a little lunch get together. Thoughts?

I feel the same way you do and am already wondering what we will do for Jack this year. We will most likely do something similar to what you proposed. Good luck and happy almost birthday to Yonas!!
We do family only. They don't know the difference at this age. A light lunch and cake.
I totally agree with you. I think at this age it would be totally appropriate to do family only. It gets so overwhelming with there are a million kids, tons of sugar and stacks of presents. Happy early birthday Yonas! :)
Great photo! We feel the same way, but without family we are planning a little bbq and maybe I'll make cupcakes, but really more of a family/friend day, with the added house warming of the new apartment! Wish we could be there!
we just had darwin's sunday. family only, presents optional. veggies/dip and cheese/crackers. it went well. good luck with whatever you do. does he have any cake requests?
i say family only until they reach school age (and then it is up to you whether or not to bring in the school friends...) really we have done both and you have lots of years for crazy parties. keep it simple while you can!
