Pretty in Pink

Could pink be the new black in Ethiopia? We just received some new pictures of our pea and he is decked out in pink! But let me tell you, he makes it work!! A family that is adopting from our agency is currently in Addis Ababa picking up their children, and they were able to take some pictures of our pea and love on him a little. The adoption community continues to amaze me. I received an e-mail from the Hoffmans, whom I met through their blog, that this other family was in Ethiopia and going to our pea's orphanage. So Laura e-mailed this family and asked them if they could take a few pictures of the pea. Before I knew it, I received an e-mail with these pictures! I have never met or talked with this family, yet they took time out of their trip to take and send us these fabulous pictures. Amazing, simply amazing!!!!

pink IS a hit! my son wore his older sister's hand-me-down clothes -- the purple bunny sleeper was definitely his favorite! the hairbows, barrettes (sp?), and headbands look great on him, too. and don't tell him boys don't wear nail polish.

Hi from Aimee over at the Illien board. I thought I would check out your scene. Congratulations on your referral. This is an exciting time. Oh, btw, my little girl was always wearing blue in her pics. :)

Call me old fashioned, but pink isn't for me, nor headbands or nail polish. Pints of Guiness, war films, football, boxing and rugby are for boys. Chris, you may have to step in on this one.

re: the guiness and rugby: your kids will look to you (and other adults) for approval -- and it's important to us right now that our 3 year old son is fine with whatever he wants to do -- even if it means he does what his older sister does. we're not worried that this will "make him gay" or somehow "compromise his masculinity" because frankly that's all a crock. whatever values you have will definitely be passed on to your children -- whether you realize it or not. so if it's rugby, then great! if it's war films, great! headbands? great. it's your family and your decisions. that's one of the great parts of being parents. you finally get to be in charge :)
