A Day in Court

On Monday we had Yonas' court date to make his adoption official in Colorado, and so we can now get his birth certificate and passport. We really didn't know what to expect, especially since the court is not in a very diverse community where very few adoptions occur. To our relief, the judge was amazing and very encouraging and supportive. It was his first adoption hearing this year, no surprise, and he was impressed that we had made adoption the choice for us. It always takes me back when people are amazed that we chose adoption. Adoption is so normal to me, and I "know" so many people that have or are in the process of adopting that when people are shocked at our story, I don't really know what to say.
