Monkey

When the Hoffmans went to Ethiopia, they generously asked if there was anything that they could take over for Yonas. I hemmed and hawed about whether to send clothes or toys or a stuffed animal or something else. I was a bit sceptical about whether or not Yonas would see whatever we sent with any regularity. Finally I decided on Monkey. The picture above is Emebet, Yonas and Monkey when the Hoffmans brought him over. To my great surprise, when we picked up Yonas his caregiver gave us Monkey to take with us! Now, Monkey looked a bit worn and ragged, but Yonas clearly loved him. Monkey is now the first thing that Yonas grabs when he sleeps and every morning he has Monkey by the tail when I get him up. I love it! So for all of you families out there, if you have the chance, send something for your little one to love on in the orphanage before you can get there to pick them up. Yonas loves, loves, loves his Monkey!
