Aside from waiting, waiting and more waiting, there are a few hoops that we need to jump through before we can bring our pea home.
First, in about 2 weeks we should receive the Child Profile Report. This will include an extensive health report from the embassy doctor, the reason for abandonment, his religion, his behaviour (which I expect to be exemplary:), his measurements, nutritional concerns, and any special needs that he may have. Once we receive this, we will make a formal acceptance of his referral which means a little more paperwork. Yeah!
Then we have to wait until April 27th, which is 3 months from his date of abandonment, when we can begin to process the pea's case through court. We will then get a court date which is usually 30 days later. Once he passes court, then he is officially ours through the eyes of the Ethiopian authorities.
Finally we'll receive an embassy appointment and once we have that we can make our travel plans, as we have to be in Addis Ababa for the embassy date. If everything goes smoothly, which is rare in international adoptions, we may be travelling in June. Sorry we can't post pictures of our little guy, but it is against Ethiopian law to post any pictures before we pass through court! Let me assure you, he is perfect!!
